Their winning paper, titled “A Preliminary Study on Human-AI Collaboration in Creating Product Descriptions for Flea Market Apps” was recognized with the most prestigious honor bestowed by the Human Communication Group (HCG).
This research was conducted as part of the “Value Exchange Engineering” a comprehensive collaboration project between Mercari, Inc. and the University of Tokyo. The award was shared with Miyuki Fujiwara (Researcher, mercari R4D Lab), the paper’s first author and presenter.
This paper previously received the “MVE Award” in January 2025. The Human Communication Award is a highly selective distinction given to the most outstanding papers chosen from numerous study groups and recommended papers within the HCG, including the MVE research group. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the HCG Symposium 2025 – IEICE Human Communication Group, which will be held from Wednesday, December 10, 2025 to Friday, December 12, 2025.
Their approach to “Human-AI Collaboration” goes beyond mere operational efficiency. By lowering the barriers to using digital tools and helping users overcome linguistic and expressive hurdles, this research demonstrates the potential for everyone to proactively experience the “joy of communication” and participate in “value exchange.”
At RIISE, we will continue to explore the harmony between technology and society, driving research and development toward the realization of a truly inclusive society.
